On the 13th of Oct Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire, Scotland welcomed and played host to 5 Boeing KC135 Stratotankers of the United States Air Force. I managed to visit the airport for a short time on the 14th of Oct where I manage to catch the first 3 of these aircraft depart, to support deploying USAF F-15s. The first 2 of these aircraft made a request to ATC for a formation departure which was granted. Prestwick Airport runway measures in at around 9800ft/2987m and all these aircraft certainly got their monies worth running long on T/O and utilising almost every available inch.
It has been a busy few days at Prestwick, with the airport also welcoming several of the USAF newest additions to their tanker fleet, the Boeing KC46 (not featured) thus far I haven't unfortunately been able to catch, and it continues to prove somewhat elusive.
