601 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force receives new Standard

The head of the RAF presented the squadron with a new standard symbolising the importance the RAF places on it.

The squadron was known as The Millionaires' Squadron in the 1930s due to the lavish lifestyles of its members. It also flew Hawker Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain before being disbanded in 1957.
