When the US Airforce wants to transport heavy-duty firepower like Apache attack helicopters, it relies on the services of the C-17 Globemaster III. In operation since 1991, the C-17 is an enormous cargo aircraft, measuring 174 feet long with a wingspan of 169 feet, 10 inches. Each engine is capable of producing 40,440 pounds of thrust and a maximum payload capacity of 170,900 pounds. The C-17 can utilize its incredible size and power to transport and deliver some extremely heavy cargo, like an entire Apache Helicopter.

In fact, the C-17 can carry not just one, but two Apaches at a time, which are loaded and unloaded through the aircraft’s huge aft door. Rollers on the plane’s floor can accommodate tracked vehicles or cargo on pallets, which are also used to quickly offload heavy payloads in contested territory.
