A Ukrainian cargo aircraft crashed in Greece on July 16, leading to speculation if the incident was linked to Russia-Ukraine war. Locals reported seeing a fireball and hearing explosions for two hours after the Antonov An-12 crashed near Paleochori Kavalas in northern Greece. The pilot managed to alert authorities about a problem in one of the plane's engines. The pilot had also reportedly requested clearance to make an emergency landing at nearby Kavala airport, but he failed to reach it.
