Drones, UAVs & UCAVs is one such area where India not only need to innovate and develop but induct and operationalize at a rapid pace. This is when we would not only be able to cater to requirements of armed forces but also export it other countries like how Turkey and China are doing. They are focused more on operationalization & export of systems. This is missing somehow in Indian defence sector. We must learn this strategy from China as it has encouraged its domestic drone’s system from pre-university to the University level. China has unveiled its huge inventory of drones during the recent Airshow held in Zhuhai, the South China’s Guangdong Province. We have planned to make video on the complete series of Chinese drones and their capabilities as we must know what our adversaries are capable of. So, let’s get started. In this video we will be talking about the Chinese CH-6 drones, the latest entry to the well-known CH drone series showcased at the Chinese Airshow 2021. It is a high altitude and long endurance drone which offers high performance as well as affordability, reliability and ease of use. The drone has been developed by the CH UAV company and is based on the demands of future warfare. Talking about its specifications, the drone has a wingspan of 20.5 meters, maximum takeoff weight of 7.8 tons and can carry a large range of payloads including electro-optic systems, synthetic aperture radar, early warning radars, electronic reconnaissance systems, air-to-ground missiles and bombs, anti-radiation missiles and loitering munitions, up to 450 kilograms. It has to two fuel-efficient, small- to medium-sized turbofan engines. The CH-6 has an endurance of 20 hours, allowing it to remain in the air for an extended time for a variety of military and civilian missions. With the advantages of high altitudes and speeds, including a service ceiling of 15 kilometers and a top speed of 700 kilometers an hour, it will provide capability to avoid, the threats from ground-based air defense fire. It can easily breach most ground defense and detection systems before it is neutralized. The twin engine improves the survivability of the UCAV. In case of an engine failure the other engine will be enough to bring it back to the base. It can undertake the ISR mission i.e., intelligence reconnaissance & surveillance as well as attack missions. The UCAV is capable of carrying air-to-ground missiles and bombs. It is also capable of carrying anti-radiation missile that gives it capability to launch attack against the ground-based Radars and air defence system. It can also carry out anti-submarine missions, maritime patrols, early warning missions and close-range air support. The UCAV looks much better in all specifications if we compare it with Indian Rustom-II or TAPAS-BH-201 UCAV program. The CH-6 follows highly modular design and its parts including engines, wings and payloads can be easily changed. For example, its turbofan engines can be also replaced by turboprop engines. As per the designers of this drone, it is easy to maintain and support, and is very reliable and with high service availability.
