In the last day or so the defense ministry has reported that China has sent 34 military aircraft and nine ships into the vicinity of Taiwan. Of the 34 Chinese aircraft, 20 violated Taiwan's air defense identification zone and crossed the median of the Taiwan Strait. This is the unofficial buffer zone. Authorities in Tokyo accuse China of trying to unilaterally change the status quo in the region. Jens Stoltenberg, in a trumpet of his visit to Japan, pointed out that China is not an adversary of NATO, but stressed that it is becoming an "increasingly authoritarian power," behaving assertively and threatening Taiwan, and developing military capabilities that could also reach NATO countries. Prior to his visit to Japan, Stoltenberg visited South Korea. He encouraged the government in Seoul to increase military aid to Ukraine and warned of growing tensions in relations with China.
