March 1944.

Footage of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander, Allied Expeditionary Forces and the commanding general of the European Theater of Operations United States Army (ETOUSA).

Eisenhower was at the Royal Military College (later Academy) Sandhurst to witness the passing out of officers in the Royal Armoured Corps. He also addressed the graduating Officer Cadets and took the salute at their passing out parade.

Text of General Eisenhower's remarks: "To each one of you, I wish godspeed and good luck. If I could have my wish as I stand here today, feeling honored as I do on the tribute paid me, I would say this: if I could only meet you all, somewhere east of the Rhine and renew the acquaintanceship of this pleasant morning. Good luck".

The footage is credited to Grinberg, Paramount, Pathe Newsreels; part of the Sherman Grinberg Library.
