Finland is upgrading its air force with the $8.8 billion purchase of 64 F-35 fighters announced in February. The Finnish Air Force is ranked 48th in the world, with a total of 200 military aircraft of all kinds in service, including 55 modern fighters. The Finnish Air Force owns the F-18 C/D Hornet fighters purchased from the US, and the British Hawk Mk 51, Mk 51A, and Mk 66 trainer aircraft. There are also three C-295M transport aircraft purchased from Spain. Finland also owns modern helicopters H225 Super Puma.
