In 1905 after years of unrest and political friction, with months of tension and fear of an outbreak of war between Norway and Sweden, the union of Sweden-Norway was dissolved and Norwegian independence was assured. Norway became a constitutional monarchy after a plebiscite voting in favour of retaining a monarch, and decided on the Danish prince Haakon to be their new king.

Since those years Norway has been well known for their pragmatic approach to world politics, with a mixed neutrality on some issues, whilst still being firmly in the western camp of geo-politics. The Norwegian people have a high quality of life, liberty, and pride, with Norwegian explorers even being the first people to reach the South Pole. Alt for Norge!
