Bagamat makailang beses na rin nilang ninais na i-retire na ang close air support aircraft na ito, ay nagawa pa rin nitong manatili sa hanay ng USAF. At sa halip na ito ay tuluyang i-retire, ay nagdesisyon ang USAF na i-upgrade ito at gawing mas matinding GA at patuloy na gagamitin sa matinding digmaan.
