It’s definitely one of the perks of the job. These Danish pilots fly surveillance missions off the coast of Greenland and while their primary aims are to conduct surveillance operations, inspect fishing vessels and provide better preparedness for rescue operations, one of the by-products is a window into some of the most dramatic views on the planet.


In Greenland, the distances are enormous – Greenland is 2.2 million square kilometres in fact. That’s more than five times the size of Germany. And that’s why this task requires an aircraft with a large operation radius and high speed that can also be airborne at short notice. Step forward the Royal Danish Air Force’s Bombardier Challenger CL-604, the ideal aircraft for the task.

Denmark is a NATO Ally, and its armed forces provide vital assets and capabilities to help keep the Alliance safe, including protecting the High North.
