The following audio is an interview of Joseph Richard Wallam, Marine Corps Veteran from Indiana who served in World War II and is 95 years old at the time of this recording!

Born in Indiana in August 1925, Joe Wallam was primarily stationed in America during World War II with the Marine Corps. He did basic training as a Marine in California and other locations; he also served in Maui, Hawaii, and at the end of the war, was also stationed in Tsingtao, China likely during Operation Beleaguer (1945-1949) which helped assist President Chiang Kai-Shek and Republic of China disarm Japanese troops after the war ended.

This is an Oral History Audio Interview of his experiences as a U.S. Marine Veteran. Edwina Mitchell completed this Veterans Oral History Project as part of my History 1123 class at Baton Rouge Community College in Louisiana. This Oral History Project is open to any student in my History classes at Baton Rouge Community College.
