The US Navy's F/A-XX will be the world's first sixth generation fighter jet. Though America already has the world's first sixth-generation aircraft, the B-21 Raider, but to rule the skies, a fighter jet is needed. The first thing that the F/A-XX will bring to the table, is the aircraft's operational range, over the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-35C Stealth Fighter, because now the Chinese DF-17 hypersonic missiles can reach even Guam, if launched from the East China Sea. This time, the US Navy is focusing more on something rather than speed or stealth, and it will be mind-boggling. As laser weapons are emerging in the battlefields of tomorrow, the US Navy's F/A-XX will have cooling systems, making lasers useless against the fighter jet. Wow, truly futuristic! It will also have sensors to detect stealth adversaries. The F/A-XX's payload capacity, range, and variety of weapons, and equipment will at least approach or maybe exceed those of the existing platform, like the F/A-18 Super Hornet. We will see the F/A-XX operating from the USS Enterprise CVN-80, soon in the 2030s.
