Sorry about not uploading for a while, I’ve been busy with RIAT and so on. Anyway here’s a vid of the NAFHS Mig-15 departing for its display at Wales Airshow and returning.
The Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig-15 was the Soviet Union’s first successful swept wing jet fighter and is believed to be the most mass produced jet in history with some 13,000 manufactured. It incorporated a licensed built British Avon engine and with its 2x 23mm and its 1x 37mm cannon’s it was fast and deadly, causing havoc with the US B29 crews, the T33’s and P90’s of the USAF couldn’t keep up, pushing the US to commission the F86 sabre which could match the Mig in nearly every aspect though the Sabre could dive faster while the “Fagot” as it was known by NATO could climb quicker. This lead to tight dogfights over North Korea during the Korean War. Their differences cancelled each other out and it was the pilot training that made the critical difference.
This particular 70 year example having being constructed in Poland as LIM-2, belongs to the Norwegian Air Force Historical squadron and is currently painted in the USAF markings to simulate the “captured Mig” they American’s used to test its flight characteristics to gain the upper hand.
Anyway hope you enjoy, I’ll a 3 day RIAT video coming out and departure day one soon, like, comment and Subscribe for more aviation content
