We joined one of the new NATO air policing sorties over the skies of Romania, part of the alliance’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

It’s the first time a reporter has been granted access to fly with the crews now operating these missions from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus after they arrived two weeks ago.

Sian Grzeszczyk was on board a voyager refuelling aircraft that flew with two armed Typhoon fast jets.
