A Russian fighter jet has collided with a US drone over the Black Sea. So, an MQ-9 Reaper drone was on a routine mission over the Black Sea when it was intercepted by two Russian fighter jets. Russia has claimed that the MQ-9 Reaper was crashed into the Black Sea after a sharp maneuver, and that Russian fighter jets never made any sort of contact with the American U.A.V. The drone was apparently flying with its transponders off, according to Russia. Transponders are communication instruments that make it possible to keep tabs on an aircraft. "The Russian S U-27 fighter jets repeatedly dropped fuel on the drone, shortly before it crashed," is what the Pentagon said. The US and the UK have increased reconnaissance and surveillance flights since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, always operating in international airspace. The crucial question is whether Russia intentionally tried to down the American drone during the encounter on Tuesday, or if it was an attempt to obstruct the drone's ability to execute its job. The West has made significant efforts to prevent the Ukraine war from turning into a direct conflict with Russia, but now, the United States must consider its response.
