LITHUANIAN military anti-aircraft guns were seen loaded into trucks and prepared to be shipped to Ukraine on Friday (February 10). On Tuesday, the country's defence ministry said in a social media post it would send "dozens" of Bofors L70 anti-aircraft cannons to Ukraine.

Lithuanian army spokesperson Jurgis Norvaisa said the guns would help the Ukrainian military destroy aerial threats including drones as well as crewed aircraft.

Lithuania has also trained Ukrainian soldiers to use the cannons, he added.

The L-70, developed in Sweden by Bofors, is an automatic anti-aircraft cannon that can target and take down targets from a distance of up to 5 kilometres (3,1 miles).

Lithuania, an EU and NATO member, pledged to Ukraine a military aid valued at 125 million euros ($134.8 million), a defence ministry spokesperson told Reuters in January.
