Taiwan scrambled air force jets and put its military on alert after Chinese military jets flew close to the island.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence, 20 Chinese military aircraft crossed the Taiwan Strait median line over a 24-hour period.

Taiwan responded with air force jets and activated its missile defence system, which were stood down without any shots being fired.
