In this fourth part we will take a look at the World War Two battleships Gneisenau and Scharnhorst in Brest and how the Germans would repair and defend the ships while in port as well as prepare for Operation Cerberus otherwise known as the Channel Dash in the Second World War. We will also take a look at how the RAF or the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy would try to prevent the German ships from breaking out as well as how they planned to counter a breakout. This operation would occur in February of 1942 and be mostly successful seeing the ships return to Germany. As a disclaimer any map animation shown is not entirely accurate, they are there to give you a general sense of where the ship was at the time.
