Sea survival drills are a critical part of aircrew training, and at a state-of-the-art facility in RNAS Yeovilton, military personnel undergo rigorous exercises designed to prepare them for the worst-case scenario of an aircraft ditching into the ocean.
These drills, which are conducted at least once a year, use world-leading equipment and are designed to be as challenging and realistic as possible, with wind, rain, and wave machines simulating real-life conditions.
Prior to entering the water, personnel are given a classroom briefing on the equipment and its operation.
