US and Philippines open new airbase to bring in US Military Aircraft near Taiwan and South China Sea

The United States and the Philippines officially opened a new airbase on the island of Palawan. The airbase is situated approximately 200 miles from the contested waters of the South China Sea and 500 miles from Taiwan, making it an ideal location for the US to project its military presence in the region.
