The US military’s European Command reported that an American MQ-9 spy drone crashed into the Black Sea after colliding with a Russian Su-27 fighter aircraft on March 14, 2023. Several top US military officials blamed Russia, calling the incident an “unsafe and unprofessional act”. Moscow has denied that its plane made contact with the US drone. The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, said his country viewed the incident as a “provocation”.
