Presentation given by Lyn Julius and Haim Saadoun to the Jewish Geneaological Society of Greater Miami as part of the Beth Am synagogue 'Sunday Salon' series. Up to a third of Jews reaching Palestine illegally before 1948 were Jews from Arab countries, helped by the Palmach's Aliya Bet Unit. After 1948 many Arab countries banned Jews from leaving, forcing Mossad Aliya Bet to continue its clandestine rescue operations.
