Armageddon and Coffee – How one man saved the world from nuclear war

In 1983, the Soviet Union nearly started a nuclear war by accident -- twice. Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov, a mid-level officer in the Soviet Air Defense Forces, was in charge at Serpukhov-15, Moscow's key nuclear forces command and control bunker. The early warning system detected what appeared to be at least five Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles coming over the Arctic. Lt. Col. Petrov's orders were clear -- he was required to launch everything the Soviets had before the first American missiles hit. But what if it was a malfunction?
