This song is about media and journalists as witness of history, writing the first draft of history….
When it is said Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna…… journalists record that eye witness testimony of valour of brave sons of Pakistan through their reporting- written words and videos.
It’s a first ever song in Pakistan with all real visuals and real sounds from field reporting used in a song. Usually shots and visuals are recorded as per story board.
In this song, every visual and natural sound is from real events, recorded by journalist Arshad Sharif and his team during coverage of multiple events.
The journalists are witnesses of history who recorded how Pakistan is made secure each day by countless deeds and heroics of brave men who put their lives at risk 24/7 to ensure security and freedoms of Pakistanis.
If anyone has ever used all real life visuals in a song before this in Pakistan, please enlighten and share for acknowledgement.
The song pays tribute to the valour and sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
This song has visuals of all the three armed forces of Pakistan - Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force.
Visuals used in the song are from following places:
With Pakistan NAVY in Arabian sea.
Pakistan Air Force -Peshawar.
Visuals from Pakistan Army Operations in Khyber Agency; Bajaur Agency; Peochar Valley; North Waziristan; Mohmand Agency; Kabal Swat; Shawal North Waziristan; Swat ; Siachen.
The song also has visuals from Hoshab in Balochistan and Chamb in Azad Kashmir.
The song also features visuals of climb to cover Salala Checkpost which was attacked by the US in 2011 resulting in martyrdom of 24 Pakistani soldiers.
Arshad Sharif and the team are the only journalists to date who have ever visited Salala Chekpost where the Pakistani flag is shown flying high.
The song starts with a war mode martial music tone, goes into victory music and vocals and then mellows down in vocals as tribute to the sacrifices.
The three music and vocal variations by Bakshi Brothers creates a lasting impression and the words - May Ne Dekhi Hai Jang- keep resonating in the ears after the song has ended. Bakshi Brothers sang the song from the heart and combined with some visuals, the song sends a chill down the spine. The emotions and images linger on even after the song is over.
Prucer and Director of the song, Arshad Sharif said the idea was to make a song which tells the story of valour with media as a witness to history.
The poet, R.M likes to remain anonymous and unnamed. R.M is like the bravest soldiers who were eulogised by Walt Whitman in the following words:
"No history ever—no poem sings, no music sounds, those bravest men of all—those deeds. No formal general’s report, nor book in the library, nor column in the paper, embalms the bravest, north or south, east or west. Unnamed, unknown, remain, and still remain, the bravest soldiers."
R.M, the poet, translated the broad idea into powerful lyrics which can be felt by every soldier, every Pakistani who is safe because brave sons of Pakistan fought to defend the motherland.
The viewer and listener connects and absorbs the powerful lyrics.
As Executive Producer, Adeel Raja, provided valuable professional input at every stage. Even the slightest cut, fade, transition can’t go on timeline without his approval.
As Video Director, Ali Usman, put in long hours to put visual life in the words of R.M's poetry in the song. Ali Usman’s recollection of archival material as field producer was handy in picking the relevant visuals from tera bytes of coverage data.
The idea of the song was conceived by journalist Arshad Sharif who produced and directed it to introduce a new genre of realistic productions from real life footage.
When contacted, Mr Sharif did not say if he intended to pursue the career of production and direction in addition to his journalistic pursuits.
However, Mr Sharif put in a special words of THANKS for ARY CEO Salman Iqbal and Senior Vice President Ammad Yousaf for always encouraging the team to pursue creative ideas without any restrictions - a rare in any news organisation.
I enjoyed ❤️???? ✌️✌️ ????the song during preview.
Hope you enjoy the song with a feeling of gratitude to Allah for bestowing freedom to Pakistanis and enabling our Armed Forces to defend this freedom.
