Re-Creating LOT POLISH AIRLINES FLIGHT 16 in Turboprop Flight Simulator?! | Belly Landing

Hey guys! Welcome back to the channel as today we're going to attempt to re-create LOT Polish Airlines Flight 16 in Turboprop Flight Simulator!

LOT Polish Airlines Flight 16 was scheduled passenger flight from Newark Liberty Int'l Airport in USA to Warsaw Chopin Airport in Poland and was being flown by a Boeing 767. As the plane took off, the pilots received a warning about a hydraulic leak in the airplane but decided to continue the flight as it didn't pose a major threat to the flight and that they would use up fuel if they went to Poland. There were 220 passengers and 11 crew on board. On approach, the pilots were unable to lower the landing gear due to the hydraulics issue, however the B767 has an alternate system of lowering the gear if hydraulics fail which uses gravity to lower the gears. Unluckily, a circuit breaker failed, causing the alternate system to also be disfunctional. The pilots decided to perform a belly landing, a landing on a plane's belly with no gears. The plane entered a holding pattern and circled for many hours to burn fuel and give ample time to the rescue services to get ready and the airport to be evacuated. Foam was also sprayed onto the runway to prevent or minimize a fire. The plane landed on Runway 33 successfully and everyone survived.

To simulate the landing gear failure in the game, I broke the gears since breaking them is the only gear failure possible in the game. I broke the gears by hitting them on the ground at high speed. Since there are no B767s in this game, I used the ATR-72, since it is the largest commercial airplane in TFS.
