Russia: 1 dead, 4 injured in military plane crash at Balashov airbase

At least one person died and four were injured after a military transport plane crashed on landing at Balashov airbase, Saratov region, Tuesday.

Russia's Defence Ministry said the Antonov AN-26 transport aircraft hit the ground after it caught fire during a training flight. There were four pilots and a cadet aboard the plane.

The surviving crew members were being treated at a nearby military hospital, some sustained serious injuries. An investigation into the causes of the crash has been launched.
