Reports in the media alleging involvement of Russian flagship airline Aeroflot in the migrant crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus do not correspond to reality, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
"Speaking diplomatically, it is not true. Aeroflot, as far as I know, does not have any flights between the capitals of the countries from which refugees are streaming to Europe, after the EU with the US had bombed those countries. Aeroflot does not fly from these capitals to the capital of the Republic of Belarus," Lavrov stated.
Moreover, during the press conference following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali Abdoulaye Diop, the two diplomats touched upon the issue of reported planned contracts between Mali and private military contractors.
"Regarding the anxiety that the French and some representatives have been showing for months about reports that the Malian government plans to seek the services of a private military company from the Russian Federation - this is the exclusive competence of the legitimate government of Mali," he said.
"As for private military companies, we have nothing to do with the activities of such structures created by Russian citizens. They enter into contracts on their own," he added.
