In the latest news in Haiti, police have arrested a Florida-based doctor who was allegedly involved in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. The suspect arrived in Haiti in June to act as a middleman between a foreign hit squad and the unnamed masterminds behind the assassination, according to authorities. Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph has called the United States to send in troops to stabilize the country.

Haitian first lady speaks out for the first time since she was injured in the assassination of her husband. She thanks God for being alive while grieving the death of her husband.

In other news, a Houston, Texas man was arrested for voting illegally during the Super Tuesday presidential primaries last year. Vice President Kamala Harris shows support for Texas Democrats, who left the state for Washington, D.C. to protest for voting rights.

COVID-19 infection rates are on the rise again as the more contagious Delta variant is behind the recent spike. The variant is spreading more rapidly among the unvaccinated.
