“The Politicization of Science,” moderated by Claudia Dreifus, Sustainability Management Lecturer and contributor to The New York Times Science section. Panelists include Dr. Steven Cohen, Senior Vice Dean, Program Director of the M.S. in Sustainability Management program, and Director of the M.P.A. in Environmental Science and Policy at SIPA, Naomi Oreskes, Professor of the History of Science and Affiliated Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, and Cornelia Dean, Distinguished Lecturer and Writer-in-Residence at Brown University and a science writer and former science editor of the New York Times. The discussion centers around climate change, its inherent connection to the current pandemic, and how responsible climate action policy and ending the COVID-19 pandemic both require an understanding of scientific fact in order to move forward.
