Both pilots of the SF-260D military training plane were killed as the aircraft crashed shortly after take-off from Cigli airbase, according to media reports citing Turkish Armed Forces, on Friday in Izmir province.

Emergency and police cars were present at the crash site.

The wreckage of the aircraft was reportedly found some 3 kilometres (2 miles) north of the air base.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
