The Yak-15 is a jet fighter created at the Yakovlev Design Bureau in the mid-1940s on the basis of the Yak-3 piston fighter. It is the first jet combat aircraft adopted by the USSR Air Force. The history of the Yak-15 and its relatives is a rather striking example of the era of birth of jet aviation, demonstrating the time of researching a previously little-known technology, fighting endless difficulties and trying to understand what a jet plane is supposed to look like.
